5 Critical Things We’ve Done (So Far) in 2025

| Erin Loos Cutraro

The environment for women and democracy is as challenging and chaotic as it has ever been. For more than a decade, She Should Run has stood at the front line of the political pipeline, reaching women who haven’t yet imagined themselves in office but absolutely could. In 2025, we’ve doubled down on our proven early-stage resources while also pivoting to meet the urgency of this moment.

It’s only summer, but we’ve already packed a year’s worth of work into the past few months. Here’s what She Should Run has been up to since January:

1. Kept the Resource Center buzzing

We are the only free, publicly available resource center designed for women curious about running for office but not there yet, offering everything they need to take that first step. 146 resources and counting, 74K+ visitors in 2025 so far, with Now is the time to act locally topping the charts. Plus, we added more fan favorites like:

2. Joined forces and took the mic

From the MAKERS Conference stage to workshops with the California League of United Latin American Citizens, Princeton Theological Seminary, and Yahoo!, we brought our Starter Kit, Power in Purpose, and Building a Better Community workshops to women ready to lead. We also celebrated an “inspired by She Should Run” candidate story on Iowa Public Radio. Proof of the importance of early-stage encouragement and support.

3. Moved fast and learned fast with She Will Fight

Our action project debuted in April in beta mode to quickly test, listen, and learn, helping women plug into meaningful local civic action when it’s needed most.

Within months we saw:

  • 17,500+ engaged users with a majority of participants saying the actions we provided were worth recommending
  • Confirmation of our “fight type” framework, reinforcing that all women show up differently in this work and need different tools to step into civic leadership

4. From the beta, building a responsive, two-prong strategy

Fueled by what we learned in our She Will Fight beta, we’re preparing to launch a new virtual cohort model to equip women who hope to run for office someday with the skills, confidence, and network to tackle urgent local challenges tied to the cracks in our democracy. Its impact will scale nationwide through co-created tools, videos, and how-tos any get-sh*t-done type woman can use.

5. Stayed laser-focused on why this matters

The conditions for women to lead are under attack, and progress toward gender parity in political leadership has stalled.

We face an urgent need to respond to disinformation, political violence, and declining trust in our institutions without losing sight of the long-term goal: building the next generation of women leaders.

By combining immediate, accessible ways to act with the deeper work of leadership development, we are protecting democracy now and shaping the leadership we’ll need in the years to come.
