Worksheet: Growing Personal Leadership

First, download the GROWING PERSONAL LEADERSHIP worksheet.

  • Over the next week, observe how you step up in different areas of your life (work, home, community). What did you see as your strengths? How would you describe your leadership style? You don’t have to be in a position of power to be leading; maybe you are the person who says what everyone is thinking, or the person who ensures that someone else is heard.
  • If you don’t feel like you have a compass that points to your true north, ask someone who knows you really well (professionally or personally) to talk with you about how they see you leading and having an impact. Ask them which of your traits they value most.
  • Write down two or three of the accomplishments that you’re most proud of. They can be professional or personal. Explain why you’re proud of them, and what they say about how you lead.
  • This exercise will take between 10-15 minutes to complete.
