Since Election Day 2016, over 15,000 motivated, engaged and qualified women who want to run for office have joined She Should Run, a nonpartisan group aiming to inspire more women to run for office.

She Should Run is launching a radical campaign to achieve gender parity among elected officials by 2030..."We're really taking advantage of this surge and saying, 'Now is our chance to build this path,'"

Having women as political leaders results in better government, more bipartisan ventures and more civility—something we could really use right now.

“We weren’t alone in seeing what was very clearly a surge in women stepping up from all corners of the country, raising their hand and saying ‘okay, I want to do this. Tell me how to run for office.’”

The campaign is called "250kBy2030" and it aims to have women make up half of the 500,000 elected positions in the U.S. within a little less than 13 years. Currently, women only account for less than 25% of those positions and previous research suggests it would take approximately 100 years to achieve gender parity in these.

“When you state your ambition,” Erin Loos Cutraro says, “you then immediately get entered into an ecosystem of placing yourself somewhere that you become top of mind for individuals when an opportunity becomes available.”

“If our government doesn’t look like the people it’s supposed to represent, that means there are a tons of voices, perspectives, issues, challenges that certain communities are facing that don’t have a voice,” says Jenn Addison."
