“When one woman runs in her community, there is a multiplier effect that happens so every woman that we encounter, there's a ripple effect that comes with that,” says Sofia Pereira. “So even if a woman doesn't win this time around, it helps show the example and serve as a role model to other women that they too can pursue this path.”

One hundred percent of the Skimm’s proceeds from the No Excuses merchandise will be donated to She Should Run, a non-partisan 501 organization that aims to expand the talent pool of women running for office in the U.S.

“The sisterhood has been incredibly powerful in helping women go from thinking about running for office to running for office,” Sofia Pereira said.

Millennials are poised to “fundamentally change the makeup of our government for better, by bringing their experiences and perspectives to the conversation,” added Erin Loos Cutraro, founder and CEO of the nonpartisan group She Should Run, which works to boost the number of women running for office.
