Tell us about your background. What are the experiences, including education, that make up the person you currently are?
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and a Master’s of Organizational Management.
What was your trigger moment and why this specific office?
Serving the community has always been a passion for me after being such a mischievous young person. I ran twice for the same seat because I wanted to focus on issues and making improvements locally.
What made you feel qualified to run for office?
(1) Serving the community for over 18 years; (2) Continued love for the people; (3) Ability to bring people together; (4) Problem solver; and (5) The ability to be a thoughtful partner.
Do you work full-time or part-time?
Full-time.
Most people don’t know what their elected official does on a daily basis. What’s a typical day looking like for you?
(1) Explore ways to fix problems for your district; (2) Listen to complaints; (3) Review budgets; (4) Deal with zoning laws; (5) Meetings; and(6) Exploring partners.
What do you think people would be surprised to know someone in your position does?
You work 8 days 25 hours per day.
What are 3-5 skills needed to be successful in the elected office you served in/are currently serving in?
Patience, dedication, strong work ethics, and the ability to balance work and family.
What’s the best part about serving in elected office?
Meeting amazing people.
What has been the accomplishment you’re most proud of while in office?
My accessibility and transparency.
In terms of finances, how much money did you have to raise for your campaign?
In 2017, I raised $40,000. In 2021 I will need to raise $100,000.
What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone who’s thinking about running for the position you serve/have served in their community?
Make sure you love doing it unconditionally.
