Elissa McLerran Gilliam grew up in a rural, farming community in a family who always encouraged her to chase her ambitions and to lend a hand to serve your community. During her high school and college years she was very active in 4-H and the National FFA Organization where she developed and honed her personal leadership skills. Now she's pursuing her dream of weaving together agriculture, politics and leadership as a Legislative Director in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, D.C. She is passionate about building relationships and bringing motivated people together. She encourages her friends and colleagues, particularly women, to not only be a part of political conversations, but to be the conversation. She credits many people, especially the strong women in her family, for instilling confidence in her, and hopes to do the same for other women.
