About Women’s Campaign Forum

WCF is an organization dedicated to ensuring that pro-choice women become leaders in politics. As volunteers, donors, campaign professionals, and, most importantly, candidates, we know women from all walks of life can change the face of this nation. To achieve that change, WCF proudly recruits women to become active participants in public life, trains women to be more effective political forces, and endorses talented women candidates for public office.

As the next step in our efforts, WCF created the She Should Run™ campaign, a comprehensive effort to gather nominations of pro-choice women who should run for public office. Studies show that women are more likely to run for office if we ask them to do so. With She Should Run™, we are committed to making sure as many women as possible get that critical ask. Once we collect the nominations, we will ensure that these women receive the support, training, and resources they need to join the next class of strong and successful women leaders in our country.

Right now it is especially important for women to get involved in public life, from community organizing to the legislative process to the nomination and confirmation of judges. Women bring a fresh and different perspective to issues like reproductive rights, health care, education, and security. WCF is committed to encouraging women leaders who can take on these challenges.

We are delighted that a record number of women are serving in federal and state government in 2009, but there is still a long way to go. Despite the tremendous class of women who ran in 2007 and 2008, the overall numbers of women running for office are still alarmingly low. But this is a story about more than numbers – example after example shows us that women (or even just one woman) make a huge difference.

With the She Should Run™ campaign, Women’s Campaign Forum will find and provide the critical ask to women who will make that difference. And by encouraging women at the beginning of their political careers, we will build a pipeline of pro-choice women to lead our country for years to come.
